Monitor ChatGPT scheduled tasks

ChatGPT scheduled tasks can't run curl, so they can't ping a URL themselves. They can email you when they finish. Today, the way to watch them is to relay that notification email to your watch's ping URL with an automation tool that watches your inbox.

1. Create a watch

Create a watch named after the task (for example "Morning news brief") with the same schedule you gave ChatGPT, e.g. every weekday by 9:15am in your timezone. Copy the watch's ping URL:

2. Turn on email notifications for the task

In ChatGPT, open the task's settings and make sure email notifications are on, so each completed run sends an email to your account address.

3. Relay the notification to the ping URL

In an automation tool that can watch your inbox:

• n8n: Gmail Trigger (or IMAP Email Trigger) → HTTP Request node, POST to the ping URL.
• Make: Gmail Watch emails (or Email) module → HTTP → Make a request, POST to the ping URL.
• Zapier (paid plan): Gmail New Email Matching Search → Webhooks by Zapier → POST to the ping URL.

Filter on the ChatGPT sender and the task name, and send the email's text as the request body.

4. Add a sanity check (recommended)

Ask the task to always include a marker in its output, e.g. *"End your reply with the line DIGEST-OK."* Then set Required keyword to DIGEST-OK on the watch. If the notification text you relay includes the task's reply and it's an apology, a refusal or nothing useful, you get an empty alert instead of silence.

Coming soon: forward the email directly

Once email check-ins launch, each watch will get its own address, and a simple inbox rule (Gmail filter, Outlook rule) forwarding the notification will be enough, with no relay tool. That isn't live yet.
