One error can switch off an instant Make scenario
Make has a setting called "Errors before deactivation": how many errors in a row it allows before it switches a scenario off. Make's help docs add a catch: if the scenario starts with an instant trigger, that setting is ignored and the scenario is deactivated after the first error. (Make Help Center)
Once it's off, the scenario doesn't run, so there's no new run to fail.
Catch it with a heartbeat:
- End the scenario with HTTP > Make a request to a ping URL.
- Set the deadline to the longest normal quiet gap. For an instant trigger, that might be once a day.
- Send the item count in the ping, so a run that succeeds on nothing can still alert.
If the ping doesn't arrive on time, you hear about it.
