A Google Apps Script trigger can let you down three ways

Running a report or sync on a Google Apps Script time-driven trigger? Google's own docs describe three ways it can let you down:

  1. The time drifts. A 9 AM trigger fires at a time Apps Script picks between 9 and 10 AM, then keeps that slot.
  2. Runs are capped. A script stops after 6 minutes, and triggers share a daily runtime quota: 90 minutes on gmail.com accounts, 6 hours on Google Workspace.
  3. Failures arrive as a summary email. Nothing shows on screen. You get "Summary of failures for Apps Script," and triggers created by add-ons send no email at all.

(Google: Installable triggers, Google: Quotas)

None of that tells you when a run simply never happened. Have the script ping a heartbeat as its last step, and a missing ping becomes an alert.
